In a recent study published in the International Journal of Cardiology1, researchers at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan used exercise stress testing to evaluate the effects that aerobic interval training (AIT) would have in aiding respiratory and cardiopulmonary efficiency on patients with heart failure syndrome.  The researchers attempted to prove that AIT would aid in ventilatory efficiency and assist with the distribution of blood flow from the heart, more so than moderate continuous training (MCT).

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) is known to be a powerful tool for diagnosing and managing hypertension. This is because the data collected through ABP monitors like SunTech's Oscar 2, provide a clear view of the variability of a patient's BP as well as a means to determine their average BP levels. With this information clinicians can better determine if treatment is necessary and also the potential risk for future cardiovascular disease.

Two leaders in blood pressure management, SunTech Medical Inc., a leader in noninvasive blood pressure products and technologies, and AtCor Medical (ASX:ACG) the developer and marketer of the SphygmoCor® system, which noninvasively measures central blood pressures and arterial stiffness, announced today that the companies have formed a strategic alliance aimed at improving blood pressure measurement and overall cardiovascular health assessment and management.

Morrisville, NC – SunTech Medical, Inc., a leader in non-invasive blood pressure measurement products and technologies, announces the release of their new line of disposable blood pressure cuffs.

“With the increased adoption of automated blood pressure measurement as the standard of care in hospitals and doctors’ offices, it is important to understand that the blood pressure cuff is the sensor and acts as the first point of contact for acquiring accurate information for each measurement,” explains Stephanie Monk, Senior Product Manager. “With that in mind, we have applied our expertise in blood pressure measurement to the design of our new line of disposable blood pressure cuffs.”

For most people, hypertension is a condition that should be diagnosed regularly in order to help prevent future illness. But for kidney transplant patients, uncontrolled hypertension can be particularly dangerous—no less for pediatric patients than for adults. In a recently published article in the journal Pediatric Nephrology, Blood pressure profile in renal transplant recipients and its relation to diastolic function: tissue Doppler echocardiographic, Dr. Mitra Basiratnia and the staff at the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences describe the dangers this way:

“Arterial hypertension is a common consequence after renal transplantation. It is linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular events, graft failure, proteinuria, and death.”
