SunTech Medical announced today that it has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the SunTech 247™ Diagnostic Station – a modular device that will provide manual and automated blood pressure as well as optional temperature and SpO2 measurements. The SunTech 247™ will launch into global distribution beginning in August.

Mount Everest, Nepal - April 23, 2007

The Caudwell Xtreme-Everest Project Team, in co-operation with CORTEX Biophysik GmbH, will be putting SunTech Medical's OEM blood pressure technology through extreme conditions in the coming weeks. The team is currently climbing to the summit of Mt. Everest and will be performing a series of physiological tests along the way. Clinicians and scientists on the trek will assess human performance at the low oxygen levels found at extreme altitudes.

A breakthrough in physiological monitoring is about to take center stage as Empirical Technologies prepares "BPGuardian" for commercial deployment. Empirical's BPGuardian makes it possible to monitor blood pressure beat-by-beat and non-invasively without discomfort, using a portable device worn on the wrist. Information from the sensor is then sent via a Bluetooth connection to a nearby computer or handheld device, such as a PDA.
