Let's Bring in the New Year in Moderation

Although some people like to “indulge” in alcoholic beverages to help bring in the New Year, you may want to take it easy if you have high blood pressure.  While it is common knowledge that high blood pressure increases your risk of cardiovascular diseases and that excessive drinking is not beneficial to your body; the combination of the two may be double trouble.

Researchers at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea suggest that men with high blood pressure who occasionally drink six or more beverages in one sitting may double their risk of dying from a stroke or heart attack.  The study found if men have 12 or more drinks in one sitting their risk is nearly five times higher.

So remember to drink responsibly this holiday season, especially if you have high blood pressure.
